I have earned a BSE from Missouri Baptist University in education and hold a valid Missouri Teaching Certificate. My training at Missouri Baptist University has been supplemented with observations, field experiences, and student teaching which I completed at Kingston Elementary, Vineland Elementary, and Athena Elementary. I have also earned two associate degrees; AA in Education from Jefferson College and an AS in Interior Design from Patricia Stevens College. I have 24 years of teaching experience in grades 7-12. These experiences have been at public and private school settings. The subjects I have taught include various levels of mathematics, physical science, American history, world history, Spanish and physical education. There are many arrays of learning styles. I personally use visually, writing, and seeing the bigger picture. First, the mind can develop a concept or help map out the ideas by seeing the picture to the learning task. Second writing helps to reinforce the concept or idea. It has been my experience that each student has his/her individuals needs and that each learns differently. Thus, I make a conscious effort to sit down privately with each of my students so that we can address his/her concerns effectively and put together a constructive plan to improve his/her skill set. As a tutor with Webster University's student literacy corps, I worked with individuals, pre-K-adult, on reading, literacy, and writing skills. I held this position for two years along with a summer position tutoring Algebra and French with HEC Upward Bound, which service at-risk youth. I found both programs extremely enjoyable and found that all of my students were eager to learn and improve their skill set.
