A Little Bit About Me...

My approach is to cater to my students. For example, if a student is very interested in comic books and I am tutoring them in Spanish, I would find Spanish comic books appropriate for their age group. When it comes to history I like to introduce my students to the importance of essay writing and how to write a good history essay as well as timelines and Historical Identifications. If I am tutoring a high school student not only will I help them with their current work but I would also prepare them for history on the college level. I want my students to excel and be prepared for whatever comes next in their educational journey.
My name is Leslie W. and I am a junior at Louisiana State University. I am currently majoring in History and Spanish. I am very interested in pursuing a career in Civil Rights, Immigration, or Business Law. I am originally from the Washington, DC area. I g ... read more

Licensed Attorney - Civics, Government, LSAT prep, etc

I am an attorney licensed to practice of law in Louisiana since October 2011. I currently represent the State of Louisiana in multiple areas of law. My experience as an attorney representing the state has provided unique insight and understanding of how the state and Federal government are structured and operate. In addition, the practice of law requires carefully considered word choice, understanding and use of grammar, and advanced writing composition skills.

Language and Social Studies Tutor Now Accepting Students

I have taught Spanish and ESL at the collegiate, upper/high, and middle school levels. I earned my B.A. in Spanish with a history minor from Baylor University in 3.5 years and graduated Magna cum Laude. I earned my M.A. in Spanish at Baylor University in May of 2010. I have tutored extensively both during and after my studies. I look forward to working with you.
I believe that anyone can learn. I approach history as a story (albeit a very detailed one) and languages as a skill set. I don't do rote memorization, but instead emphasize the patterns, causes, and effects of concepts. If you can begin to understand the why and the patterns behind concepts, the material becomes more meaningful and a lot of the need for rote memorization is removed. Mistakes are learning opportunities, and learning should be meaningful, not stressful. I take whatever approach necessary to give you ... read more

More About This Tutor...

My teaching style is best described as a balance between a healthy relational presence and an interesting conveyor of teaching and information. In other words, I combine "popular, upbeat, and friendly" with "engrossing, unique and interesting." Sensitivity's employed in that I notice the demeanor and countenance of the learner to help the student remain hopeful, optimistic and goal-setting, or at least goal-friendly. I have a liberality in terms of classifying students: some are on the "linear, forward moving, measurable" end of the spectrum, and some are on the "organic, unique, quiet and absorbing" end. I am confident that the world can't have one without the other, nor should!
My offerings are in writing and Speech Communication. After graduating from the University of Georgia, I attended a state accredited graduate school in Florida and Mississippi: Reformed Theological Se ... read more
