Russian for beginners from an American who lived there

In the USA, I have had 11 years of experience teaching English at the high school level and four years of experience in teaching English at the college level. I earned an M.A. in English from Marquette University. In Russia I had five years of experience in teaching college English classes and giving private English lessons to children and teenagers. After taking Russian classes at a small college, I went to Russia in 1995 and lived there until 2000, studying Russian every day with a private tutor.

I graduated Cum Laude from UW-Oshkosh with a BS in Education, Early Childhood – Adolescence, with a Spanish Major and an ESL minor. In teaching, I've completed several diversity hours, students with special needs hours, clinical hours, teaching for Girl Pioneers, two weeks of seminar/teaching in Mexico, tutoring, as well as one semester of full time student teaching. While studying for my Masters in Education I realized that in order to be effective as an educator, I must be a lifelong learner. My goal is to pass on this philosophy to all my students.
