Teaching and working with children is something that I truly love to do. Everyone has a different learning style. Seeing the look of understanding and comprehension cross a child's face is one of the most rewarding experiences a person can ever have. Due to the fact that each individual child has a different learning style my teaching style will vary from child to child depending upon their needs. Experience with phonics(as a teacher of 1st graders, also experience with children who have learning difficulties, referred to by the school. These children ranged from kindergarten to 8th grades. Special emphasis on reading and writing. I taught in public and private schools and have tutored in my home 10 years. I recently worked with Professional Tutors of America, with junior high students in math. I enjoy working one on one with children to improve academic performance. I have a number of books collected to supplement learning. I like using at least 5 different kinds of activities per session to keep interest. I enjoy working with phonics and have used it extensively to build performance. I enjoy using books that interest each child to help them have a great desire for reading.

I hold a BA in English from Saint Olaf College and studied a variety of subjects during my time in the Liberal Arts program. I have worked with many college graduates helping them prepare for the GRE in both the English and Math sections, as well as assisting high school students in preparing for their SATs and ACTs. I have also worked with younger students helping them learn beginner level French as I studied French, English and math through college. I am able to tutor math from beginners through geometry, algebra, and pre-calculus. I love working with students and it is such a joy to watch them learn.
