A Little Bit About Me...

After graduating from art school in 1983, I have worked for numerous screen print and souvenir companies in Colorado, Texas and New Mexico. I was responsible for creating various ddesignsm, mostly cartoons and humour, to go on a variety of different items (picture frames, mugs, etc.) In the 1990 I taught cartooning classes at Trinidad State Jr. College and have written and illustrated 3 books on Colorado history and folklore.
The style of teaching that works best for me is one of "continuous encouragement." I first find out what the students strengths and weaknesses are then focus on how to improve on them. It's slow and steady but seems to work.

I have recently retired from the U.S. Army as a medic. During my service, I was frequently responsible for both formal and informal teaching and training. I have assembled a wide variety of experiences during my years of work and education. I have worked as a journalist, advertising copy writer and designer; and teacher of adult learners in the areas of fine art, art history, and garden design. For 16 years, I owned a operated a successful garden design business and, more recently, taught in a local elementary school for six years as a fifth grade teacher, specializing in reading and, especially, writing.
