A Little Bit About Me...

Before I begin to teach I like to attempt to understand how much the student comprehends about the particular subject. I prefer to teach globally and with examples. I would rather the student understand what is going on rather than memorizing a step by step approach. I also have found it beneficial to implement a reward system.

Individualization is an important part of my teaching style. I think it is important to identify what the student needs to work on and present it in a way the student can grasp the concept and enjoy learning. The student has to enjoy learning to succeed. I try to present material in such a way that the student will find it interesting and use different techniques to help them remember what they have learned. I also use the pre-teaching/re-teaching strategy. A Little Bit About Me...

Both of my parents were teachers and I find myself sharing my knowledge with anyone who seems to need it. I have instructed the ladies in my craft group, answered questions posted online, and tried to instill some basic computer upkeep knowledge in the people who've asked me for help with their personal computers. I attended Houghton College for 2 1/2 years. Then I went to NCCC and earned an AS, then transferred to Charter Oak State College. They took all the credits I had earned as a student at both schools, allowed me to define my degree, told me which additional credits I needed and granted my degree.
