A Little Bit About Me...

As a high school honors student, I majored in English and achieved the highest score possible (five -- 5) on the English Exam. In College, I pursued my interest in English language by majoring in Literature, with an emphasis upon etymology, linguistics, speech and rhetoric. My senior thesis on the poetic technique of Alexander Pope earned both an "Honors A" and that year's sole English Faculty Award. I later chose to attend a law school that was renowned for its general emphasis upon writing and, in particular, "plain English" legal communication.
I love to see students grasp a new concept and revisit their work with greater pride and confidence as a result. Realizing we all learn in differing rates and manners, I find great satisfaction in teaching in several ways at the same time (e.g., varying visual and auditory cues, telling stories and providing mnemonic devices). I have six children of my own and 13 grandchildren. I have always loved children and I have a special connection with kids of all ages. I am very laid back and enjoy interacting with kids. I believe all children can be successful in learning if they are given the proper incentive and encouragement. Every child is unique and special and will respond to the right teaching environment and the right teacher. I strive to meet each child's unique requirements and to assist them in developing good study habits and confidence in their abilities.

A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoy teaching children and adults of all ages, although most of my experience has come from teaching college age kids. I believe that everyone learns in different ways and one aspect of teaching I enjoy the most is working with someone to find the method of learning that is best for them. Once someone has discovered their method of learning it makes the process so much more enjoyable for both the student and myself. I am very patient, easy going and considerate and work hard to connect with my students as both an educator, friend and role model.
As a double major in Economics and Sociology I gained extensive experience with both mathematics as well as writing and oral presentations. In my final semester I enrolled in two graduate level classes and despite the difficulty of my class schedule worked even harder to achieve a 4.0 GPA for that semester. The combination of Economics ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoy teaching all age groups. I especially like working with High School students.Initially, they can be quite a challenge to work with, but once they are engaged they are fully immersed in the topic! I like to be creative and interactive! I was a difficult High School student so I can relate to many that get bored with some topics. I really like to use transactional teaching methods. I introduce a subject and have discussions about the material rather than strictly lecturing.I like to learn what the student can teach me after assigned a reading. Have them go in the front of the room and explain a portion of the reading. It also helps them develop confidence in their public speaking.
As an undergraduate student at Central Washington University, I was self motivated and involved in various activities. I have earned two bachelor degrees, BA in Sociology and BA in Law and Justice. ... read more

As a teacher, I work to build my students’ self-confidence through positive interactions and effective problem-solving. I believe that every person has the capacity to learn. I consistently adapt my teaching to the needs of the student and look for creative ways to help the student to understand. I recognize and affirm every effort to learn, every success not matter how small. I encourage students and know how to release the tension so students do not become discouraged. I am not a lecturer.
