A Little Bit About Me...

While working with an adult native Spanish speaker to improve her English was certainly rewarding, my desire has always been to work with children or adolescents, as I feel that they are more amenable to an educational program and have a greater learning capacity when given the proper opportunities. My teaching style is one of constant progression, in which the student's strengths and weaknesses are weighed and an appropriate lesson plan formed based on his/her abilities. This lesson plan can be subject to change based upon rapid progression or extended difficulties in a subject, and I also take into account each student’s distinct learning style. I have always worked well with children because I enjoy their capacity to learn. I am drawn to students who feel they are incapable of excelling in subject areas in which they struggle. I also have a gift of working with students who have behavioral challenges and/or special needs to due to a disability. My AA in Early Childhood helped me to understand how the brain develops and how people learn and how to utilize the stages of development in educating people. My BA in Child and Family Studies has given me the ability to see each of my students wholistically and to teach them according to their future goals based upon their background and goals. I have tutored students in every subject from pre-school to college material.
