This is particularly true in the field of mathematics. The writer, instructor or academic will begin by using a term which is ambiguous or has not been explained. The other principle that is important in mathematics is active participation by the student. To fully grasp the subject requires practice working problems. As the student solves more problems, he or she will gain more confidence and greater familiarity with the subject.

I am a Professional Engineer with 10+ years work experience in USA and 15+ years from India along with 2 Bachelors' and 16 credit of hours of MBA from Univ of Arkansas at Little Rock AR. As an Engineer I have knowledge and understanding of math and science as I have used and continue to use them in my daily work. I have also trained shop floor technicians on application of these concepts in shop floor work.
