As a graduate of Pfeiffer University in North Carolina, I have been blessed to work with students of all grade levels. I received my BA in Elementary Education grades K-6. Having a degree in elementary education has really helped me expand my knowledge in all subject areas. I have learned through my four years of education different materials, techniques and hands on experiences to help students retain information.
I have always loved working with children and helping them grow as a person. I am patient, passionate and enthusiastic when helping children. I actively engage each student through the use of manipulatives, technology and fun hands on learning activities to fit each student’s individual needs. I have a tendency to push myself, I was persuing a double major in college in Math and Musical Theater but made a last minute decision to focus on my math career. I then pushed myself to achieve a master's degree in Secondary Education in only a year. I began tutoring in college when I decided that I wanted to go into teaching. I gained experiences tutoring Statistics, all levels of Calculus and college Algebra. I was never at the top of my class but I was above average so I feel I understand both the students who come to understand topics well as well as those who need a little help.

A Little Bit About Me...

I finished my degree by going to summer and night school; I graduated in 1979. I was the first in my family to go to college and I am very proud of that. I have become a much better writer and am much more aware of grammar through writing reports, technical papers and SOPs. For a couple of years I volunteered for Literacy Volunteers because of my love of reading.
I like working with children. They are so appreciative and excited when they learn and figure out a new word or anything. I am easy going and very supportive. GIven a good learning atmosphere, good support, encouragement and enthusiasm and children can learn. Everyone learns in different ways; in a one-on-one situation that can be discovered and lessons designed to best help the child.
