I have obtained my GED and have always had straight As in high school. I'm also familiar with construction and building skills. I am a visual learner and will do my best to make the teaching fun. I have also obtained 13 college credits from Kalamazoo valley central college. The 13 credits that I have obtained are in computer skills. The computer skills that I have obtained are those for knowing and understanding how to use Microsoft word and all other programs associated with it.

Most of my adult life has been dedicated to helping people strive for and achieve personal and academic success. I have worked in the academic field for approximately 8 years; tutoring at a community college level for 4 years and scoring MEAP tests for 4 years. In addition, I have provided on the job training for individuals needing extra help. At the community college level I headed up study groups for Science classes, creating study guides and practice quizzes. In 2006 I graduated from the University of Michigan with a BS in Engineering Science. It gave me an understanding in a broad range of mathematical areas as well as areas of other sciences. During that time I worked with volunteer organizations like Salem Housing and Habitat for humanity for three years, which enabled me to mentor a variety of ages. A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style may vary depending on the student. I would have to get a feel of what the child like and dislike about the subject he or she is struggling in. I would also want to obtain a list of goals or expectations from the student's parents in order to implement a plan that will aid both the student and I to accomplish the targeted goal. I will implement interesting ways to make the subject fun so that the student can build confidence and enjoy the learning process.

My style has always been to encourage questions from the student or with the many people who have worked for me over the years to challenge the status quo. I encourage individuals to stretch the envelope and to seek different solutions rather than accept what has been done before. I have also stressed that there is never a bad question or wrong to think outside the box. For example I have always asked students, "Why study history?" What I relish now,is that many respond, "To learn how we got here."
