Proficiency is acquired with methodical steps.

My approach is simple: assess the student's academic weaknesses, review the strengths, then teach the new material in order to bridge the content or skill. "Scaffolding" is the best means by which to teach so that the student understands the significance of the lesson. Too often, teachers play sage-on-stage, thereby neglecting to connect what the student already knows with the new material.

I have had a thirst for helping others at an early age. From the age of 15 I have volunteered to teach youth and the majority of my professional background has been in tutoring and mentoring. For the past two years I have worked as a literacy teacher to incarcerated youth and was measured monthly on accuracy.
