After graduating High School early (Jan 2001) I did two semester at the University of Akron majoring in Political Science. After the events of 9/11 I enlisted in the US Navy (Jan 2002). I was trained at the prestigious Defense Language Institute (DLI) in Monterey CA, with follow up training in Texas. I then spent the next years working as an Arabic linguist and Intelligence Analyst at a Joint Service Operation. I specialized in Iraqi and Syrian Dialects. By 2006 I was a shift NCOIC (Noncommissioned Officer in Charge, basically a supervisor). I left the service in 2008 with an honorable discharge and started working for the department of the army as a civilian but filling the same roll. My niece was having difficulty with learning to read. She attended a well known reading center, which did not improve her reading skills. Then she was diagnosed with a language based learning disability. I began researching and I found the Orton- Gillingham training program. I began training and tutoring at the Akron Learning Center. I have also tutored reading for A+ Abilities Plus. I continue to work with my niece and she recently score advanced on all areas of the OGT's. I teach using a multisensory approach. I also teach from the known to the unknown.

I have five years' experience as a writing tutor at my university, during which I wrote and presented papers at multiple regional conferences for university writing tutors.
