My comments on tutoring Calculus II : Expert at all Calculus II concepts. Particularly good at breaking down the complex concepts and making them easy, including Riemann sums and trapezoidal sums to calculate the area under the curve, The Fundamental Theorem of Calculus, integration rules for all functions for all functions using indefinite integrals, evaluating definite integrals, volumes generated by spinning a function over an interval about the x-axis or y-axis using the disc, washer, and/or shell methods, applications of the definite integral, indeterminate forms and L'Hôpital's Rule, improper integrals, mathematical modeling with differential equations, sequences, infinite series, convergence or divergence of a series, and other concepts.

I am currently employed by a college in Roanoke, Virginia as a tutor of mathematics, chemistry, and computer science and tutor elementary school, middle school, high school, college students, and others professionally. For the last 23 years, it has been so fulfilling working for three colleges and tutoring independently over 2,000 students of all ages in all areas of math and computer science, as well as college writing, adult literacy and English as a Second Language (ESL). I used to hate math, now I love it.

I received a BS in Horticulture from Va. Polytechnic Institute and State University. majored in Biology (Botany) for 3 years at Virginia Commonwealth Univ. and College of William and Mary. Recently retook Precalculus, Calculus 1, Calculus 2, and Calculus 3 at Virginia Western Community College. I have a background tutoring and running a tutoring center for STEM subjects at a community college for 3 years. I have been tutoring in some form for 6 years. I have a certification in tutoring ESL and several years experience in that.
i am pretty relaxed and informal, but I expect students to do the work assigned. I help, but I don't do the work for them. I use Socratic questioning to get students to understand the material. I stress learning concepts and building on them as opposed to memorizing or guessing enough to pass a test.

I was a math tutor at Northern Virginia Community College in Sterling, VA from 08/03 to 07/07. I have also taught adult swim lessons and group swim lessons for children at the Ashburn Sports Pavilion in Ashburn VA.
I enjoy teaching. I believe all children have the ability to succeed in the subject of math. The key to teaching children math is to find out what motivates your students. Then I try to find away to incorporate their interest into the lesson so they relate with the subject at hand. I am an easy going person. When my students were in the office hours, we always had a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. I really enjoy explaining a difficult concept in my own way until the other person understands it. If the original problem is too complicated for the student to understand, I usually first break it down into several easier problems and then guide the student through the thinking process.
