I am a very patient teacher who treats students with respect. It is my goal to reach all learners and meet their needs from all ability levels and cultural backgrounds. I involve students in the learning process by giving them choices and input in project development, technology integration and enrichment/acceleration. I have taught elementary school for 16 years. One year in the Lincoln Country School District and 15 years in the Rockwood School District. I have taught grades 1,2,3 and 5. I served as grade level chair in each grade level, on all subject area commitees, and as teacher's representative to the PTO. I have tutored students for the before and after school program.

Learning should be fun. I strive to make a point of this when ever I teach. I do this in both lectures and tests. I find a little humor takes the edge off test taking and allows the student to concentrate on the subject matter without being nervous. I have taught Accounting courses at a JC and Business College in the St. louis area. I also taught Accounting and Finance courses at a Business College in Raleigh, NC. I enjoyed the experience and look forward to continuing.

During my undergraduate studies I was involved with Big Brother Big Sisters, a non-profit organization dedicated to serving those children in need. For a year in half, I mentored them and boosted their confidence to acheive higher. I currently hold a bachelor degree in Marketing and have excelled at numerous statistic classes in the business field. I am currently pursuing my Master's in Public Administration which involves a higher understanding and the real use of statistics. I want to be there for those in need because I was in the same position. I find that a good tutor is one that not only teaches but mentors to ensure success. I am a recent graduate from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, with a BS in Business Administration - International Business and a focus in Chinese. Because this program is relatively new, a degree in International Business required multiple Finance courses, which allowed me to learn many advanced statistical and mathematical concepts. In these classes, I often assumed an informal tutor role and helped my fellow students understand difficult points. In addition, I trained new employees during my tenure as Lab Manager of a campus computer lab. I like to teach by using examples (as many as it takes) and by breaking down difficult concepts into relevant, manageable information for the person I'm assisting.
