For 34 years I have taught almost every science, but my focus for the last 28 years has been chemistry - both high school and college courses. Since 1993 I have served as an AP Reader and a College Board Consultant, grading the AP Chemistry Exams and teaching teachers how to establish their AP program. Over 94% of my AP students have earned a "3" or better, with over 50% scoring a "5". By teaching teachers, I have a better understanding of what goes wrong in some classrooms, so I am able to help students bypass those barriers.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have 13 years experience teaching high school and middle school math. I have had a fulfilling teaching career thus far. I currently teach at Providence High School in Matthews, North Carolina. My current subjects are Algebra 2 and A.P. Calculus. I have experience teaching levels 6-12 grades. My strengths are Algebra 1, Algebra 2 and Calculus.

A Little Bit About Me...

As a graduate of the University of Virginia, I was very dedicated to learning as much as possible. I double majored in Government and Sociology, yet was able to take numerous courses in other areas as well. After earning my undergraduate degree, I decided to pursue graduate school immediately. I was offered Graduate Teaching Assistantships at the University of North Carolina Charlotte. I am a strong believer that a tutor is a friend first, and an instructor second. Many times I have found that a student's difficulties issued from personal matters, such as a lack of confidence, rather than specific weaknesses with the material. I always make every effort to allow a student to feel as comfortable as possible within the instructional dynamic, and in my experience, this has made all the difference. With regard to my methods of instruction, every student is very different, but I have found that making the material relatable to personal interests always induces an improvement.
