I have taught for years in the public school system in Kansas. I have also served our great nation in the military, and am proud to a United States veteran. I am an avid learner, and have been my entire life. More About This Tutor...

I actually started tutoring while I was still in college, helping out one of the science/math teachers, and proctoring classes when she needed me to. I have a BS in Natural Science with a biology emphasis, from which I've gained knowledge in most areas of science and math. Besides helping to teach in college, I also was a tutor for three years, in several subjects including Chemistry, Algebra, Calculus I and II, Physics, and more. I also was a member of the English Honor Society, where I proof-read papers for students once a week.
Since I have tutored for several years, I've found that every person learns slightly differently. The key to how I teach is to figure out how that person best learns. There is no such thing as a stupid person, just one who hasn't been taught in a way that they can understand yet. I am a firm believer in never giving up on someone, particularly when I know ... read more

More About This Tutor...

When I am teaching a subject, I attempt to pinpoint exactly where the pupil is misunderstanding the content. Then, I explain to the student in a way I believe will come across more natural. I truly believe in the variety of learning styles that all people possess. I believe they should be considered strengths and not weaknesses.
The past four years, I have had experience with a diverse population of students working in the Wichita Public School District. In the classroom, I teach and coach students on all subjects, including: Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, P.E. and Computer Technology. I have held tutoring sessions after school with young students as well as grown adults. At the University of Kansas, I earned a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from the William Allen White School of Journalism. I also served a year of AmeriCorps where I participated in ... read more
