Elementary Vocabulary is one of my top subjects! I am a mother of a growing seven year old! I am very passionate in assisting fellow elementary students excel and enhance their skills. I am part of my daughter's PTA and monthly tutor her fellow classmates in reading skills. I have been part of the PTA for two years. For the past two years, I have been a private tutor for elementary children. Finally, for ten years, I professionally tutored my sister in language. I can assist your child in his or her vocabulary skills. First of all, a dictionary is required. We will work together and read respectable grade level books. The student will have " weekly word list". The word list will consist of words their school requires them to know or age-appropriate words be given. These words would need to be placed in alphabetical order, sentences, crossword puzzles, and much more. These exercises will provide the child confidence in themselves when book reports are given and etc.
I am a very friendly and patient individual. Since I specialize in tutoring elementary children to adults,I understand I am going to have different methods of teaching. For all my students, I try to find out what their weakness and strengths are. I attempt to have them notice it as well; that way we can work together as a team. For children, I always have some type of reward or goal for them to strive for. For example, I would remind the student that after they finish their assignments they would receive a sticker, lollipop (under parent permission), or medal.I have found children love recognition. This keeps them focused or excited. For my adult session, the end of the day goal would be a little different. I would remind the student their goal and why they are pursuing tutoring.
