I can relate best with the student/youth.

Very relaxed, easy going, friendly. I feel less pressure and non stressful settings help students learn better. They can relate to a younger person who is more in tune with youth and someone who understands them.
I attended Rufus King World IB High school in Milwaukee, Wi, one of the most prestigious inner city high schools in the country. I excelled in IB Geography, Chorus, and Theatre. I was one of those kids who never did any homework, but passed my tests. Everyone came to me for help on projects, homework, ect. I feel that I didn't fully utilize my strengths in school as I could have, so I would love to share that with those who need it now.

A Little Bit About Me...

I studied creative writing at the SC Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities in Greenville SC. There I studied poetry, play writing, grammar, editing, fiction, and creative nonfiction. I won two national scholastic writing awards for my writing. I also studied at Rice University which is a highly selective university in Houston Texas. I majored in sociology and also took many intensive English classes. While a student at Rice, I tutored several of my peers in both sociology and english. I also tutored several international students who needed assistance drafting essays in english. I have also provided assistance to elementary and middle school students in mathematics, science, history, the arts, and english.

I teach both face-to-face and online courses. In my face-to-face courses I usually start with a class discussion on the previous topic. I do this with a series of loaded questions meant to grab the students attention where I then work my way into the next lecture. I like to employ a variety of techniques such as power point and documentaries for student to get a better image of the historical subject at hand. I usually give three paper topics throughout the semester along with four tests. I focus intensely on making students better readers and writers. I have found history is a good means of achieving these goals when a students is given a subject he or she is interested in.

I love teaching and helping others, especially children. I believe that there are "no stupid questions" and that all children can learn.
