A Little Bit About Me...

I particularly enjoy teaching grades K-5 because they are very eager to learn and explore music through movement, Orff instruments, singing, and dancing. However, I enjoy teaching students who are serious about learning an instrument and want to progress. I believe that all children have a certain potential which can be achieved with perseverance.
As a graduate of the Boston Conservatory of Music, I was trained to be disciplined as a music educator and as a performer. My classroom internship began freshman year and continued until my senior year when I was required to student teach general music classes.I also maintained my vocal performance level by giving recitals and continuing vocal studies even until the present time. I have been a church music director and soloist for twenty-three years and have taught general music in grades Pre-School-8 for twenty-eight years.

While at Vassar during my senior year, I was employed by the music department as the music history intern. In this position, I was expected to instruct students enrolled in the current music history course once a week in new material as dictated by the professor. In order to prepare for this, I met with the professor prior, but often I was given freedom to design the lesson on my own. I also completed a correlate sequence in medieval/Renaissance studies, and took an array of history, art history, religion, gender studies, and English classes in addition to my required music courses. I have recently finished my Master's program in piano performance. I am an active teacher as well as a performer in the Boston area. Though primarily trained as a classical musician, I am a versatile pianist and have various experiences playing for and directing musical productions and cabaret concerts.
