I had always wanted to be a teacher. I taught for 13 years in the Mobile County Public School System at one school. I then took time off to raise my children. I worked for 12 years at St. Luke's Episcopal School teaching English and History. My next assignment was with Cottage Hill Christian Academy for nine years. While there I taught English, U.S. History to juniors, government/economics to seniors, and psychology to juniors and seniors. I have always valued the importance of a quality education and have encouraged friends with no college ambition to start working on their degrees. I am not, however, an elitist. I think every endeavor is a learning experience, but there are basic skills that are necessary to be successful, such as grammar, spelling, and professionalism. I have always loved to work with children. My job while in college was teaching children at a learning center. I also have tutored several children throughout the years that were having difficulties in either math or English.
