Many students struggle in school for a variety of reasons, and I strive to make sure that each student’s educational needs are met in order for the student to achieve his/her maximum potential. I began my teaching career after 10 years in another field. I have a Bachelor’s degree in English Language and Literature and a Master’s degree in Education. I have 5 years of teaching experience both at the high school and community college level. As an English teacher, I have extensive experience with all aspects of Language Arts, including grammar, research, and writing skills.

Each student has his or her own unique learning style. A successful tutor is one who can tap into the individual learning styles of his students, no matter how diverse they may be. Only then will a successful communication channel be achieved. I am a true believer in communication, without it success is inhibited. I have been a pastoral minister for 25 years, have taught refugees English as a Second Language, have taught community college courses as an adjunct instructor, have taught innumerable courses within the congregations I have served, including an after school tutoring program for young children. I am competent to tutor in English (all levels), history, and social sciences and love interacting with students. I love interacting with children and teenagers. I strive to give my students both the fundamentals of the subject we are studying and a sense of esteem about their ability to achieve in that subject. I am successful at this because I am extremely patient, listen carefully to the student and let them contribute to the lesson, and have a thorough knowledge of the subject matter and can relate questions that seem unrelated to the topic at hand, but leads into a topic that would be examined later in a student's educational experience. This helps to create confidence and foster an environment in which he or she can feel free to think creatively about subjects from and early age. I My first formal teaching position was as an undergraduate teaching assistant for the chemistry laboratory for non-chemistry majors.
