My comments on tutoring SAT - Verbal : I have taught GED prep which correlates to SAT prep.

I am an honors graduate of U.S.F. with forty years of teaching experience. In addition to my B.A. and M.A. degrees, I completed all cousework for the ED.D. I have taught FCAT preperation in middle school in math and reading. I have also taught GED Prep in the evenings. I taught junior high math one year. I have also written two books. One is a history jokebook. The other is a memoir of humorous classroom incidents. I believe that these experiences qualify me to tutor social studies, reading, and math.
My style is student centered. I always try to provide a positive atmosphere for learning. My jokes were a technique to help accomplish that goal. As a GED teacher I always began with a pretest and documented student progress to correct any deficiencies. ACT, SAT and Math Tutoring from a top student

I have tutored in math from 6th through 12th grade previously. I have a 4.5600 GPA and have often helped my fellow students. I have tutored my friend's brother in various subjects, and have been able to work with his ADHD. I took both an SAT and an ACT prep class, and I got a 2190 on the SAT and a 35 on the ACT. I also took the SAT Subject Tests and can tutor for those as well.
I prefer to work with motivated students. I enjoy one on one tutoring best, but I can work in a group setting. I think I am best at explaining concepts verbally. Particularly when I tutor math, I like to explain the reasoning and concepts behind what I am teaching, rather than encouraging rote memorization.
