A Little Bit About Me...

Hi! My name is Allison. I am originally from Jackson, MS and currently live in Little Rock, AR. I am a student of life and love to learn and teach! Most of my teaching experience has been in general studies with students in the range of 9 yrs to 21 yrs old. I enjoy teaching all subjects as well as study and learning skills to students of all ages. I believe in working with parents and/or students to tailor my services to meet each individual student's needs. I also have a love for teaching learning skills and test-taking skills to students with ADHD and teaching how to use the positive aspects of ADHD to your advantage as a student. I have recently attained a Bachelor's Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Mississippi State University. The reason I chose this degree was that it gave me an opportunity to learn all aspects of a human being. My first concentration was science. This gave me an understanding on how the body is developed. The next concentration was social work. This would help me gain knowledge on how to deal with families, and education, so I could teach.
I believe all children have the ability to learn. I strive to accommodate each child's unique learning style and cherish the accomplishments in learning new things. I like to create imagination, yet keep children focused on and on task.

I graduated from the University of Central Arkansas with a double major in Psychology and Philosophy. I also received a minor in Interdisciplinary studies through the Honor's College at UCA. I wrote several different research papers in Psychology, excelled in critical thinking and symbolic logic courses in philosophy, and also completed an undergraduate thesis through the Honor's college. I would be able to improve any child's critical thinking and writing skills. I completed my Bachelors of Science by taking math courses my senior year and would also be able to tutor any math classes, except for calculus. I have most experience teaching 3rd and 4th graders math and science through an Environmental Education course I took during college.
