I love teaching children. I enjoy getting to know how each child thinks and works, and finding the best way to teach them in a way that is meaningful and gratifying. My approach is usually very methodical, and I believe a strong foundation allows for a deep and thorough understanding of the subject at hand. I consider my working relationship with my students to be a team effort, one that requires their input and communication as well as my own. I earned my BA in German with a minor in music. My interest in the German language began as a child when my mother took a military assignment to Germany. In addition to the three years I lived there with my family, I completed a study abroad session during college and returned two years later as a Fulbright grantee to teach English in a German school. In total I spent six years in Germany and am quite fluent in the language. As for music, I have taught private violin lessons to elementary- and middle-school students.
