I have been involved in the Microbiology field for over 40 years. I have taught Microbiology to employees and student interns. The Medical Society of New York chose me to educate physicians regarding the CLIA laws governing all clinical laboratories. As a laboratory consultant I have taught laboratory employees at physicians' offices. Although I have never officially tutored, I have instructed students on a one on one basis. I love Microbiology. My enthusiasm for this science is evident when I teach. I believe in building a strong knowledge base by emphasizing basics.

In science and math the learner has to practice much like learning to play a musical instrument. It helps if you can bring real world applications into the classroom so it is meaningful to the students otherwise they feel like they are learning something just for the cause of learning. While completing my teaching degree I taught for three years with troubled youth. Subjects were regents level and the subject was earth science and algebra or course I as it is called in NY. I have also taught Summer school at the Allen Center in South Kortright which can be a tough crowd to work with. During my undergraduate studies I tutored chemistry and biology. I also taught 8th grade physical science in Prince George Virgina.

I believe that one key to successfully helping children of all ages to learn, is a positive and encouraging atmosphere. Since every child learns differently, I always adapt my style of teaching a particular subject to best fit the needs of each individual.
