I love mathematics and one of my passions is to teach it. I know that not everybody learns the same ways or has the same abilities for certain subjects and that is why I differentiate my instruction. I use the constructivist approach because I believe that students learn best by building on what they already know. I also like to use the Socratic questioning to make the students think critically which would help them throughout their lives.
I have worked as a para-educator since 1992 for the Yakima School District. My job is to translate and assist ELL students in the 8th grade mathematics and science classroom. I have worked in schools as a paraeducator and as a substitute teacher, with one year as a 7th grade biology teacher in a parochial school in Texas. I have worked as an editor and proofreader which, along with my advanced coursework, have given me an excellent of English grammatical skills. I am able to tutor mathematics up to and including algebra and geometry, reading, psychology, the arts, and elementary sciences.
