I am a student willing to be a teacher

I am currently a high school senior, I have made good grades in all of my classes, my GPA is 3.0. I tutor my brother and some of his friends, I take concurrent college classes and am enrolled in my 2nd year of Indian Capitol Technology Center. I am very good at getting ideas and teaching kids the things they have learned in a simple student to student fashion.

When teaching accounting practice or theory there is no substitute for working problems. Repetition of working problems helps all students gain insight of accounting rules and principles. I am a very patient person who is willing to do what ever it takes to see a student succeed in their academic endeavors.
The knowledge gained from completing an accounting degree from an accredited accounting program has possessed me with real world function and theoretical application of multiple accounting systems. My education was not limited to material found on a CPA Exam, but was broad in scope covering new fields in forensic's accounting, and old staples of accounting for natural resources such as petroleum. I use verbal and visual techniques for teaching and prefer to add an element of kinetic learning for tutoring. I explain the material in the book, preferably after the students have read the chapter. I also provide time for questions and answers, as well as group discussions and projects. I rely on exams only to show me if the students are understanding the material. If not I offer to tutor them or suggest they find a tutor.
I tutored math and science for Carl Albert State College from Sept. 1994 to May 1995. I tutored mostly in Algebra, but also in word processing, and anatomy and physiology. I played reed instruments (clarinet and saxophones) professionally in New Orleans in the late 1970s before returning to graduate school to study chemical physics. I am personal friends with well-known professional musicians and scientists. I taught my children to play reed instruments (clarinet and saxophones). As of November, 2009 I am certified in Oklahoma to teach advanced mathematics (grades 6-12), intermediate mathematics (6-12), mathematics for high school credit (grades 5-8) and physical science (6-12). All people can learn, you just have to find a way to make the student understand the information, if its hands on or reading or a combination of both. Children need the tools and the direction and if you provide them both, the sky is the limit. I want to make a difference in a child's life.
I have been working with the public for over 20 years, in that time I have worked with young adults as well as mature adults. I have also done some substitute teaching in elementary and high school levels. My experience is in food service and have dealt with many walks of life. Upon graduation from college, I taught 7th grade English for two years, then Gifted & Talented grades 4-6. I left the field of teaching for marriage and babies. My husband was in the military, so we moved quite often. I homeschooled our two children for most of their elementary years. After that I taught 7th grade Algebra at a private school. I have tutored adults and children off and on over the years in various subjects, from reading to anatomy and math.
I believe the most important skill we can impart to children is a love for learning, and a curiosity about life. That, with a firm foundation in reading and math, will take them anywhere they want to go. I do utilize more of a socratic rather than a didactic approach, and endeavor to involve the learner in discovery as much as possible.
