Science and technology do not have to be difficult or abstract. I know how to make Chemistry interesting and relevant to everyday life. I believe that a genuine interest makes the strongest foundation for education. Creativity and a sense of serious play clan create interest in "boring" subjects. A handful of wonderful marbles will draw the attention of children and adults with simple beauty and color. They can also be used to demonstrate important lessons in physics and probability. In fact, math and science exist primarily outside the confines of books. If the student can replace the textbook problem with inquisitiveness and interest, better learning will occur. I am currently in my last year of undergraduate work in mathematics at UMKC. I have been an informal math tutor for numerous students in the last few years. Last semester I worked for the UMKC Physics department as a lab assistant for graduate students, and did physics tutoring. I have a strong knowledge in mathematics all the way up through differential equations, and advanced proofs techniques. I realize I do not yet have a plethora of experience, but helping fellow students with math has always been enjoyable and rewarding to me.
