Though I recently graduated with a BS in Childhood and Special Education, I have many years of experience as a teacher/trainer. I currently substitute teach Per Diem in several local districts for K-12 students. I also have gained classroom teaching experience through student teaching and field work. Prior to that, I tutored several fellow students at Monroe Community College, and volunteered as a tutor/mentor for Rochester City School District High School students, through the Liberty Partnership Program at MCC. In many of my previous positions, I was responsible for training employees. My communication skills are excellent, and I am strongest in the area of English Language Arts, but am comfortable with most Elementary level subjects. I have had the unique opportunity through my diverse educational experiences to work with many different types of people. My initial degree is in Social science from Alfred State University. Throughout my education at Alfred State University I truly believe I began to understand and appreciate others and their differences. I received my second degree from Cortland State University in Early Childhood Education with Inclusion. I had the opportunity to work with many different types of children. I also had many diverse experiences while teaching first grade in Florida. In addition to teaching first grade I was also lucky to be able to tutor children from disadvantaged communities and help them thrive in school. I am looking to forward to teaching and would like display my skills. I am a very energetic person with the ability to take control of a classroom while producing winning results.

I like working with children. They are so appreciative and excited when they learn and figure out a new word or anything. I am easy going and very supportive. GIven a good learning atmosphere, good support, encouragement and enthusiasm and children can learn. Everyone learns in different ways; in a one-on-one situation that can be discovered and lessons designed to best help the child. I finished my degree by going to summer and night school; I graduated in 1979. I was the first in my family to go to college and I am very proud of that. I have become a much better writer and am much more aware of grammar through writing reports, technical papers and SOPs. For a couple of years I volunteered for Literacy Volunteers because of my love of reading.

Most recently I worked in the Buffalo City Schools as a full time teacher for School 81. I was hired to increase fluency scores in the 3rd grade classes. My success rate was 82.5%. That was in a 9 week turnaround. The following year 2008 2009 I worked with at-risk kindergartners, lst and 2nd graders in remedial reading. Prior to Buffalo, I worked with Special Education in the Pittsford Schools. Prior to this experience I substituted for 3 school districts. In 2007 I received my Masters Degree in Literacy while working full time. I have also tutored students individually through the Home Hospital Services of BOCES #1 from 2000-2003. At that time, I was also tutoring students up to the 7th grade. From April 10, 2010 to June 17, 2010 I was hired as the long term substitute for the Livonia Central School District, interfacing with the English, Social Studies and Special Educators
