My comments on tutoring Basic Learning Skills : I worked with elementary students as a substitute teacher and feel comfortable working with them in most subjects. I also taught French at the elementary level and worked with 5th and 6th graders in creating dances and performing them in the Chance to Dance program in Rhode Island.

I find out what the student needs help with and tailor teaching accordingly. I have a way of making learning easier and more fun.

Improving Student Achievement

I believe that all children have the ability to learn. They each learn in a different way and at different rates but they all are able to learn. I promote a variety of teaching styles. Differentiated instruction is vital for student success. I believe in exposing students to different types of learning. Grad Student and Tutor

Tutoring was first introduced to me while in highschool, where I tutored other students on state testing. I began tutoring in 2006 working with afterschool programs in Waco TX. There I worked with Communities in Schools, a non profit organization located across the United States. I tutored and worked with afterschool till 2010. I tutored elementary and high school students.
My teaching style can be described sometimes as "hands off." I prefer for the students to try a task or problem first and then be critiqued on how to correctly perform it.
