For the past 10 years, I have been teaching at a Huntington Learning Center while privately tutoring students from the area middle, high school, and community colleges.
My teaching style adapts to the students current level of knowledge. I always model 2 or 3 problems step by step before asking the student to try a problem. I am a teacher by degree and have tutored a number of students in how to build their grades. I am bilingual in English and Spanish and have a speciality in Esol. I believe the most important area for a student to learn is to first learn how it is he/she best learns. If the student learns by listening, then we concentrate in that area, if the student has to read and take notes, then we concentrate this area. I took every math course offered by a 4 year college, student taught for one 6 week session, and took some educational courses. After home educating my 4 children for 17 years, I returned to school to complete an AA degree in liberal arts and a BA degree in sociology. I now work as a math teacher working with children who range in age from 9-17 and have special needs.
