I tutored before but of course I wasn't paid for it because it was at my old elementary school. I helped children from ages 8-13 which I was only 11 or 12 at the time. I maybe young to tutor children and maybe I should wait until I'm 18 but, I love helping children with their homework and watch them accomplish the subject.

I seek a student-centered classroom with a balance of authority and trustworthiness in the teacher so that the students respect me while at the same time feeling comfortable to share their ideas freely. I like for students to apply what they learn soon after the lesson. For example, if the subject was math, and we had been doing multiplication by flash cards, I might ask a question about the number of squares on a chess board. My teaching style is very relaxed, though I also encourage students to stay focused and on-task. I believe in creating a positive atmosphere where students feel comfortable asking questions and engaging in discussions. When I teach or tutor in writing, I make it my goal to give students a solid structure for composing assignments that they can use to write any paper.
