Public Relations is one of my top subjects! I love teaching this. I've helped people master skills in Adobe InDesign in just a few sessions.

I recently graduated with a double major in theatre and public relations. I've been doing both for 5 years. In theatre I have been both on and backstage for numerous productions as well as assisted three Acting I classes throughout my college career. I've directed, stage managed, acted, designed, built, and teched over 20 shows in total. In public relations, I've written press releases, news articles, made media press kits, interned at a non-profit organization where I created marketing materials with InDesign and Photoshop.
With acting or theatre, I like learning my subjects style of learning and going from there. It's very easy to coach someone through an acting exercise once you know the way that they learn the best. In Public relations, it is a bit harder to figure out the best way to teach each person, because it is a more straightforward, fact based art.

A Little Bit About Me...

25 plus years as a Business Executive. 4 year instructor at Lake Technical Center and 2 years working with students needing to pass the FCAT at Eustis High School. Many of my Lake Tech students were of the at risk category, so I had to learn how to speak their language(so to speak).
I have learned that no two students learn quite the same and I try to find what motivates them and work in that area. At Eustis High School, many could read, but not comprehend so I worked one on one, sentence by sentence so student could learn to comprehend as well as read the words.

I believe that each person is an individual and as such needs personalized help. Not everyone learns as the same rate,but given time and the proper reinforcement will learn. Students much be allowed to have a certain freedom to choose likes and strengths as well as weaknesses. We all have them! If the teacher can show the relevance to a student's life then the student will understand the "why" for learning. One on one as well as equal treatment will bring results. Some days you learn a lot and other days it just takes time.

With myself as an example, in my first two-three years of college, I didn’t buy the books recommended for my classes and managed to get by with B’s and C’s. In my last year or so, wanting to go to graduate school, I bought the books, read the assignments, and was amazed at how much easier the tests became when I was prepared. My teaching style is that we do not move on until you (the student) "get it". If that is an hour or two, that's fine, or a week or two, that is fine as well. I need the student to know the material in order to move on.
I have always been involved in the teaching industry. Weather that is after school care or tutoring and mentoring. I was an Americorps Volunteer from 2000-2001 working within education. I was an in class tutor for kindergarden, 3rd and 5th grades. I also taught at Apopka Middle and drop out prevention at Apopka High School.
