My comments on tutoring Trigonometry : I always have been skilled in mathematics. Throughout my entire academic career, number relationships and equations have always come pretty easily to me. I even tutored some friends in college because they were struggling. I've have been a very visual learner, so geometry and trigonometry came particularly easily to me. Having a visual aid really helps one understand the relationship between angles, triangles, area, and volume.

I don't any paid, professional tutoring experience. However, I have volunteered my services to family members and friends. During my sophomore year, I took Organic Chemistry and excelled. However, my friends were struggling. They hated me a bit for how easy it came to me. I decided to tutor them and help them with homework assignments and studying. They ended up doing very well on the exams, allowing them to secure a 3.0 or higher in the course. I also had to regular help my classmates out with more complex problems in Physics. I was not so much tutoring as working together with them on the homework, but still, it involved clear explanation and a thorough knowledge of the subject matter.

Unfortunately, experiments cannot always be done, so I use lots of illustrations and age-appropriate analogies that are easy to relate to. Many times students are convinced that science is a subject too difficult to conquer, that they must just survive it, but science is all around us. I strive for that "a-ha" moment when a student realizes that all biological and physiological processes are interrelated and that the trick to understanding science is to build on previously learned concepts. I have taught problem solving to many friends and family. I like to explain the foundations of what they're trying to learn and most importantly explain to them why they're learning it. Once this is done, I bring the whole subject together in the end so that they may see what pieces of the puzzle they were missing. In mathematics for example, one may not understand the algebraic portion of integrals but once I explain the geometrical portion, things start to make sense.
