A Little Bit About Me...

I received my Bachelor's degree in 1989 and worked as an assistant engineer in Binghamton NY until I started my masters program at SUNY Cortland. I have held Physics, Earth science, Chemistry and Biology appointments in the years that followed in a variety of School districts throughout the state. I have spent five years tutoring and 17 teaching, including 12 years of summer school. The best thing about teaching and tutoring science is that it easily transfers to all of the other disciplines. My experiences and my insatiable appetite for learning have enabled me to make significant connections across the disciplines and to keep on learning!

A Little Bit About Me...

I love to educate children of many ages I have a 4 year old and a 2 year old in the house. You teach many different aspects of life, not just academically. Being a tutor for grades 6-8 was different because they had the basics. They needed to be informed and focused. Substitute teaching grades K-8 was rather different because the children acted as though they haven't learned anything, so you had to make them feel comfortable. I love teaching with repetition and visual. With patience, understanding, and love a child can learn anything.
I am a well round person; strong in geography and Latin American history. I double majored at Nazareth College in Business Administration and Mathematics. While in school I tutored at a Rochester city elementary school focusing on literacy. I also tutored for the Academic Advisement department in algebra, calculus, physics, and economics. I attended graduate school at RIT and was a teaching assistant for calculus classes.
I am a firm believer in teaching through examples. I present the topic then provide an example and then lead the student through an example then have the student do an example by themselves. I am very patient.
