A Little Bit About Me...

From 2007 to 2010, I worked as a math tutor at Huntington Learning Center in Pasadena, CA. I spent a lot of my work there helping high school students get ready for the math portion of the SAT, but I also worked with students on their school studies (in calculus, college and high school algebra, and geometry). Most recently, I spent about five months working as a math tutor at Sylvan Learning Center in Jackson, MS. Most of the students I worked with adhered to the "Sylvan Curriculum" so that they could improve their basic math skills. However, during this time I also had a handful of homework support students. These students studied geometry, college trigonometry, and GRE and PRAXIS test prep.
Over the past few years, I have worked with students who have come from a wide range of age groups and mathematical skill levels. I believe this has helped me develop an ability to sen ... read more

I believe education provides students the opportunity to move forward in society as confident and knowledgeable citizens. It is what I think to be one of the most important elements of an individual's growth and development, and it is so vital that educators create innovative ways to help children become successful citizens in society. My primary focus in education is student success. In order for students to succeed in school teachers must first provide a safe place where students are actively engaged in learning. When students are engaged in the learning process they are motivated to learn and succeed in school.

I enjoy working with all people young and old. When teaching someone, for me the most important thing is to get them to grasp the actual technique and reason for why something is important and how it is used, not just a strict memorization. It takes two to make learning possible, a good teacher and a good student.
As an Chemical Engineering graduate and a current Masters of Business Administration student, I have been exposed to a variety of diverse materials. I've been an Assistant Teacher on three different occasions at three different schools. I've always wanted to be in the education field but unable to finish my education. I am a mother of 6 children, ages 22,22,13,11,08, and 03. I love children, very concerned about our future and the education of our children today. Reading is so important and our children are not reading at the level they need to be. We have got to do more , as much as it takes to help our children understand how important reading is.
Not taking advantage of my opportunities, I have always done my best to provide my children and any other children that I could reach with a better view of what life has to offer. We need to let the parents know about the opportunities and educational programs out there, to help better their knowledge, so that they can help their children at home. I have also expeienced the ... read more
