A Little Bit About Me...

While attending the University of Massachusetts at Lowell I work to help other students that were having difficulty understanding the material presented. I obtained a bachelor of science in Civil Engineering, with a concentration in Structural Analysis. The course work gave me a very strong understanding of Mathematics, and Physics. Also, the quantity of lab reports I have written has given me an advantage in writing non-technical reports along with technical reports. I have worked as a college math privately and through other companies.
My teaching style is very simple and I believe it is effective. I have found that going through problems does not always help kids learn. I always try to tutor the basics and establish a plan for problem solving. The children need to know how to attach a problem not how to plug numbers into equations.

I made counseled and guarded my peers in my area of study I also tutored in calculus 1 for a program by the division of science called City College Academic for Professional Preparation (CCAPP). I love teaching because it provides an opportunity for both teacher and student to learn new things. I also believe that by applying appropriate teaching styles, the most difficult subject can be very easy to the students. I believe in getting students involved in their studies by making it fun. A child needs to study but must have fun whilst studying. My objective is to provide good educational approach to ensure that my students are t ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I feel that I excel in putting myself in the student's shoes. By trying to understand their thought process, I can best teach by making sure the student follows the logic of the subject. I have always believed that allowing the student to reach understandings through subtle guidance by the teacher is the best process. This method allows students to retain information better and feel more comfortable with the material.
I have always enjoyed both the humanities and sciences. At Virginia Tech, I majored in Philosophy and Minored in Statistics and Business. Since graduation, I have worked primarily in an engineering setting performing statistical analysis and other tasks typically performed by a test & validation engineer. Next fall I am starting a masters program at Northeastern University for Industrial Engineering. I have substitute taught for the Hopkinton Public School syst ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I have not yet become a classroom teacher. I have already applied to summer school programs throughout the state. As a coach, I feel that it is essential to inspire students/my student athletes. If you can ingite a desire to learn in students, I believe everything falls into place after that. I enjoy placing my student athletes into small groups to discuss for certain periods of time, and then I like to spend the rest of the time talking to them as a whole. After every session I coach, I have my student athletes write me a note after every lesson explaining to me what they have learned. I believe this is imperative, to make sure that the student learns and understands something new every single day. My goal is for students to enjoy their time throughout the learning process, meet their fellow peers, and work as a unit to try and understand the material at hand.

Regardless of the demographics of the student population in the classroom, I have learned that it is as important to listen as it is to present information. I encourage participation in classromm subjects yet maintain control and functionality of the class so that the lesson is not lost in the discussion. It is rewarding to see the improvment of self esteem and knowledge when people become heard and are understood in a positive environment. The miracle of comprehension is akin to nurturing, encouraging and challenging an individual to blossom and bear fruit that can be enjoyed and savored by many.
I have spent a lifetime educating myself and participating in professional development and then giving back my knowledge and skills to those that may benefit. I have found that I frequently learn as much from those that I teach as they learn from me. My History degree is not only a passio ... read more

Creativity in this job is a must and I feel you need to be on the same level as your students to engage them in what you want to teach them. Not all students learn in the same fashion so I feel teaching the same facts but in different ways to target your audience is very key in education. From reading, to visual arts and verbal communication, I feel that they are all just as important as the next one and I would encompass them all into my style of teaching.

While earning my bachelor's degree from Brown University, I taught middle school math and upper school English for two summers at Cushing Academy. My students varied widely in terms of previous experience and motivation, and I strove to approach each at his or her level and to think of each of them as individuals, never just a member of a homogeneous classroom. Last year, I taught middle school music at the Dana Hall School; some of my students had never played an instrument or sung in a choir, while others had years of experience. From this experience I greatly improved my ability to work with middle schoolers. I also tutored adults preparing for the GRE. The math section of this test covers primarily algebra and geometry, and my experience at Cushing had prepared me to find an approach to each subject suited to the student.
I believe the key to good teaching is understanding ... read more

There is no uniquely perfect method for different students. I intend to think as a student and set different goals and solutions for different students. Additionally, I prefer more comprehension, through which the student can only get good comprehension of knowledge.I am a nice tutor, and always ends up good friends with my student. Actually I am still corresponding with my previous students and offering help to them now.
I got my bachelor's degree with concentration on statistics in Beijing Normal University, which is the best teacher training university in China, and received all rounded training to make a teacher. In summer of 2007, I joined a summer camp team and volunteer to tutor math in a far away high school. Currently i am working as teaching assistant in University of Connecticut. The evaluation from my college students is good enough.

I believe that education is the key to success for children. As a teacher, I hope to motivate students in ascertaining their inner strengths and abilities and discovering what truly inspires them. I aim to provide a stimulating learning environment that encourages students to trust their own opinions, while fostering confidence in order for students to realize their full potential. Through my leadership and training experience, I have found the method of facilitating, rather than dictating, to be a highly beneficial style of teaching. I have learned that if students participate in their own learning experiences, they will not only retain information longer, but they will also become more confident in their abilities. Being devoted to this assertion confirms that I have made the right career choice for myself. I have a natural ability to relate to children, and will strive to be a ... read more
