A Little Bit About Me...

Teaching for me is a calling. My reward is watching my students grow academically and socially. As a lifelong learner, I seek to ignite a spark for self-discovery in my students' lives. I have experienced firsthand how the arts have helped children grow, providing them with academic and personal success. I know that with the right evironment, structure, and guidance, a child is able to reach for and exceed their potential. I tailor my teaching to draw on each child's strengths and strengthen areas in need of improvement. There are no mistakes only learning opportunities.
My passion is the arts. I have explored a variety of areas including fibers, painting, drawing, 3-D, mixed media, collage, clay, graphic design, etc. Skills from all academic areas are used in the arts from math to history. I have forty years of experience at the secondary and college levels, and in retirement I tutor elementary school students in reading and math and teach philosophy to retired adults. I have been a teacher, administrator, and counsellor in eight independent schools and a college.
My teaching style is interactive. My goal is to make each student an independent learner and happy to be one. I have had success at all levels, and former students have praised me for giving them a sense of self-confidence and achievement.
