My comments on tutoring Elementary Grammar : I concentrate on students not only writing correctly, but also speaking correctly. Students who struggle orally typically struggle with writing, too. Students must be able to express themselves and also the concepts that they are learning orally and then in writing using correct grammar. I spent almost 9 years teaching English grammar in China.

I am very active in the classroom and I believe in making learning fun and enjoyable. There are so many ways to help children learn, yet many of them are not used for one reason or another. If information must be memorized, I like to put it to song or a rap. Other methods of learning that are very useful are concept maps, discussions, and performing. Another very successful method that I've employed is having the student actually teach me rather than me teach the student. It is VERY effective.
I've got around 8 years of college and university work under my belt, and I am getting ready to finish a BA in Elementary Education from Western Governors University. I love teaching. When the conventional has not worked!!!

I have worked in schools in Kentucky and Ohio. I have been a tutor, intervention aide, long term substitute teacher, and regular classroom teacher. I communicate freely with my students, and am always ranked among the most well-liked and effective instructors by my students. My best skill is helping students find what is in it for them to learn and use the material. I currently teach (adjunct) at a career College where I teach English, history, strategies for success, and communications classes.
Student-centered, Co-intentional. I believe that the key to learning is the motivation to want to learn. Once that has been accomplished, just stand back and guide the student to what they want next.

Throughout my experience at Otterbein, I worked in a variety of classrooms ranging from a Preschool to 3rd grade. I have experience in both suburban and urban schools working with children of varying abilities and skill levels. I completed my official Student Teaching experience in a Kindergarten classroom in a suburban school in the Westerville City School District.
