I have been teaching English and History education for three years. I have experience on the 7th, 8th 9th and 10th grade levels. For the last three years my high school English courses have been centered on ACT prep. for the ACT/MME students take their junior year. My eighth grade curriculum focuses on strengthening testing scores, reading comprehension and writing ability (formal and creative). I also have taught Shakespeare and core minored in Shakespearean Lit while earning my English Degree. I enjoy working with young children and high school kids. I believe that it is important to get anyone I teach to be active in the education they are recieving. Everyone can learn, but to do any significant amount of learning they need to choose to do so. As an educator I can work with students to try and make the material such that they desire to learn about it. I find this easiest to do in a small group tutoring session, because you can see how the students are thinking and can cater towards how they learn best. In a large group it is a little harder to personalize a lesson or a project, but to a degree the class can be read and its particular struggles addressed. I recalled my difficulties in learning difficult subjects, my difficulties are not universal but I draw from them in finding what is blocking the student from grasping certain concepts.
