Currently, I am a systems engineering graduate student at Penn State University. I have earned a bachelor's degree in applied mathematics from SUNY Oswego with minors in applied statistics and philosophy. My last position was as an academic mentor and tutor for AmeriCorps. I have one year of tutoring experience at Hannibal High School in Hannibal, New York. I tutored students in subjects including mathematics, science and history.

Beginning in high school I found myself driven to help children in need. Through my participation in Mercy Action, I raised money for mentally delayed children, and set up numerous barbeques for them. Later, I began tutoring a young brazilian boy in the 5th grade. He needed help with all of his studies, especially math and english. As a political science major, I have gained experienced in essay writing, grammatical skills and research methods.
Before I was able to tutor, I taught 7 year old girls cheerleading. When I began to tutor, I enjoyed being one on one with the child. I am very patient, punctual and considerate. I know children that need extra help need extra time. I find it personally rewarding to supplament a child's education. I also believe it is easier for a child to ask questions when they are one on one with an educator.

Starting at the end of 2008 I became a substitute teacher in Liverpool Central Schools and in 2009 for Baldwinsville Central Schools as well. I tend to prefer lectures combined with textbook assignments as opposed to teaching either using films, powerpoint presentations or computers. I graduated high school in 2000 with a local diploma and then went on to college at Utica School of Commerce. I graduated in 2002 with an Associated Degree as an Administrative Specialist.
