I feel that over time, we all tend to develop our own way of solving problems, which is really an indication that we are ready to solve the problems on our own. So when I start teaching someone, my first step is to help them develop an understanding of the problem, as a major part of solving a problem lies in a good understanding of it. As a student at the University of Detroit Mercy, I worked as a tutor for two years. I helped other students struggling in mathematics and biology classes. Also, my senior year in college I worked as a Teaching Assistant for a Microbiolgy lab. In addition, I did student teaching for a Catholic Middle School.
Many people have different teaching skills and techniques. I do not believe any technique to educate a child is better than any other technique. Each child learns differently. Understanding the fact that children learn differently is crucial. The teacher must be able to adapt to the child's learning style.
