A Little Bit About Me...

Having completed my B.A. in Mathematics, with a minor in adolescent education, a Computer Science degree, and graduating with a 3.65 GPA, and a 4.0 in content has fueled my success. Combining that with presently finishing my Masters in Teaching with Technology, three years of teaching mathematics and 5 years of tutoring experience, in which I tutored several subjects I feel that I have a lot to add to the success of students. To go along with my education, I have completed several science courses as well as Spanish courses. Individualization is an important part of my teaching style. I think it is important to identify what the student needs to work on and present it in a way the student can grasp the concept and enjoy learning. The student has to enjoy learning to succeed. I try to present material in such a way that the student will find it interesting and use different techniques to help them remember what they have learned. I also use the pre-teaching/re-teaching strategy. The student doesn't feel overwhelmed with the newly presented material, more confident to participate in class, more willing to ask a question, and is more successful with class work and homework assignments.

I have always wanted students to really know the material being covered. This has meant keeping their interest through jovial yet concentrated lesson planning. I have always strived to make my students feel comfortable and to take on the responsibility for their own learning. Much too often Educators show students how to answer questions rather than helping the student learn how to handle new scenarios. This is the essence of my teaching: helping students see the big picture so that they can handle any new scenario.
