An understanding tutor

The teaching style that I have always promoted is to recognize that everyone learns on a different level and at a different pace. Therefore, a step by step instructor is needed and that instructor has to know how to meet that individual needs based on what they know not what I know. You find alot of college professors teach lessons based on what they know and their experience not realizing that the some students learn at different paces. I experienced this as both an undergraduate and graduate student but I had to go through it or drop the class.
I have worked with all grade levrls as substitute school teacher with range from pre k to 12th grade and worked for a tutoring company while turoring an elementary student in math. I think it takes a lot for one teacher to reach all of types of students who are all at different levels of interest in the subject being taught as well as at different levels of understanding. However, I feel it is the teacher's responsibility to give them all equal opportunity to learn. After receiving a PhD in chemistry from Purdue University I worked over 20 years in discovery research areas.
