A Little Bit About Me...

I have an Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor degree in Mathematics Education. I was a math tutor and math teaching assistant at Daemen College. I completed two student teaching placements in mathematics classrooms during my education. I also completed a volunteer experience at Seneca Babcock Preschool where I aided the teacher in helping the children learn colors and numbers. When I was a senior in high school, I taught Spanish to 2nd graders for a semester long project.
Teaching is such a rewarding experience. It is an amazing feeling when you help a student learn something that they previously had been struggling with. My goal is to help the student by becoming interested in the material. If the student is interested in the material, they will have a better chance of learning it. I hope I can have the opportunity to make a difference in many students lives.

The very first task is to assess the student's age and learning style. Once this is determined I select the teaching style to best accomodate the student's needs. Although I have used Expert and Formal formats, I prefer to incorporated Personal and Facilitator styles. Personal establishes a prototype for how to think and behave. It oversees, guides, and directs by showing how to do things. Facilitator guides and directs students by asking questions, exploring options, suggesting alternatives.
