I earned a BS degree in mathematics with certification to teach high school, and then went on to complete a MS and PhD in mathematics. I have been teaching math at the college level full-time for almost 3 years and part-time while I was in graduate school for about 4 years. I have taught many levels of math, from elementary algebra to geometry to calculus classes, and enjoy helping students gain a better understanding of all levels of mathematics. I have found that tutoring sessions are most effective when they are fun! Many students find it difficult to stay focused, especially after a full school day. For this reason, I prefer to change tasks frequently and use a variety of fun games to switch up the pace of the session. Learning can be frustrating for many students when a particular subject does not come as naturally or easily as other subjects. Thus, I do my best to incorporate student's interests into reward systems and constantly give the student positive feedback about their progress to help motivate the student.
