My teaching style is one that I obtained from two of my favorite college teachers whom I wished all others would duplicate themselves after. When I teach, I introduce myself and let others introduce themselves. I project an image of someone who is willing and able to assist and teach...someone who really does care (of which I have been told many times by former students). I let students know that if they have a question about anything, to please ask me. I am a detailed person and so I like to give detailed steps in achieving a desired outcome. My passion for education blossomed while volunteering as a tutor with Somali refugee children in Pittsburgh, PA during college. I worked with families in their homes to develop English reading, writing, and speaking skills. After graduating with a B.A. in History and Political Science I joined Teach For America, where I taught first grade for two years and substitute taught pre-kindergarten through fifth grade for one year. As a native of Louisiana, I thrive on education. I attended McNeese State University from 1986-2010. I earned a B.S. and M. Ed. in Health and Physical Education, in which I taught H & PE for 15 years. I earned a Masters +30 in Administration and Supervision.
