Working towards my B.S. in environmental studies I had the opportunity to work as a high school tutor in mathematics and science. I worked with children in a traditional manner, tutoring them after school by working through homework problems and past test/quiz questions. After graduation I began educating children at a nature center in a less traditional way. Here I worked with larger groups, taking them to explore nature, creating activities that were fun but also educational.

My English 101 and 102 professor encouraged me to major in English as well, but I was so involved in science classes for physical education, I opted not to add the other major.
