From as long as I can remember I have had a passion for science and the arts which explains why I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology a Masters degree in Art Therapy. Although I do not have a teaching certificate, I have taught painting for over 15 years at a local technical college. I did a lot of tutoring at the junior high level and helped my own children with algebra and science all through high school. My medical background contains and in depth knowledge of chemistry, biology and math, whereas Art Therapy is a combination of art and psychology. I graduated from California State University at San Francisco. While there I mastered my major of accounting as well as my minor in economics. I have over ten years' experience in all facets of accounting, audit and taxation. I have always been an exceptional mathematics student and my chosen field has enabled me to remain very strong in this area.
I spent one year tutoring accounting students who had difficulty grasping the basic concepts of accounting. I was able to explain the accounting concepts in different wording than the text books and I also created a "cheat" sheet to help them understand how to handle different accounting transactions. I have experience with assistance in teaching yoga, childcare, and with those who have mental disabilities. I am a student at University of Wisconsin Fox Valley, receiving my Associate Degree of Arts & Science at the end of May 2011. I go through all the concepts with the individual pertaining to what portion of statistics they are studying at that time. I will then walk them through a couple of examples demonstrating how to properly obtain the correct answer. I will follow that up by asking them to do a problem without any direct instruction from me. I will watch them work on the problem to assure they are working on it properly. If any mistakes are made I will politely point them out as the individual is working. Finally, I will ask them to work on problems completely on their own and I will check their answers when they are done. I feel the only way to learn statistics, or any math for that matter, is through repetition and working on a lot of problems.
